The Sports Carnival Manager is a FileMaker Pro® Database that runs on both Macintosh and Windows.

The program is customisable. For a school carnival, schools enter all of their houses, races (athletics or swimming), points details, etc. They type these details once, and the events for the carnival call on them -- creating very efficient and quick data entry.

Student details can be imported from School Administration Systems or individually entered as desired. Students can be pre-entered into events or entered on-the-day as races are run. Times or distances are entered for competitors in each event, and places and points are automatically calculated (across heats if necessary). Generation of finalists (or semi-finalists) into seeded lanes is performed with a click of a button. Age and House champions are automatically calculated and can be viewed at any point of the carnival.

User definable points can be awarded for each event, and participation points are also catered for.

2

Navigation between events and completion of event results is quick and easy.

3

The program displays individual results and both age or date of birth entry is catered for.

At the NSW Combined Catholic Colleges State Athletic Carnivals where 150 events are contested by 1300 competitors, a single Macintosh computer is used to produce a result booklet distributed to each Diocese upon the Carnival's completion, which includes event details, age champions and the final Carnival results.

Holy Spirit College, Bellambi, Carnival Coordinator -- Jan Cleal, has been using the Sports Carnival Program for both Athletics and Swimming Carnivals for a number of years. "We import our student details from OASIS and run a pre-entered carnival. This has been invaluable as we are able to produce a full carnival program and marshalling sheets which makes our Officials and House Patrons very happy. As the sole operator of the Macintosh computer during the carnival, we are able to release more staff for other duties during the day. However, the best feature is that we always present the awards to our Age Champions and winning house and we are able to give progressive point score updates during the Carnival. The program automatically updates our records and selects our representative team for the Diocesan Carnival."

Competitors who would represent the school at the next carnival are also automatically printed, viewed or exported along with their event details and a letter is available to each person (if required).

Records are flagged when broken or equalled and the record information is updated after the carnival with the click of a button.

Full carnival information can be printed (and/or viewed). There are both pre and post carnival reports which include a list of events, carnival booklet (showing every competitor in every event), marshalling sheets (completed for pre-entered carnivals and blank otherwise), full results for every event, male and female results, carnival results, representing competitor details, etc.
